Behind my first apartment in Anchorage, there was this marshy area. Initially, I was like great – mosquito breeding ground. But the only thing that really came around was this young moose. He would drop by every few days and hang out. Honestly, I have no idea if it was a boy or girl. Sometimes he’d just sit in the water and relax. Other times he’d walk around and nibble plants.
One thing I figured out quickly and something I say when describing the area is that, “Moose are Alaska’s squirrels.” They’re everywhere and dumb enough to run in front of your car.
